Quality
Quality inspections, non-conformances and actions across processes
The ERPNext Quality module integrates quality inspections into goods receipt, manufacturing and delivery. Results, deviations and actions are documented directly on the document. This creates a traceable basis for audits and certifications such as ISO 9001.
Inspection templates and parameters
Inspection templates define what is checked: parameters with target values, tolerances or formulas, numeric or pass/fail. The template is set on the item and loaded automatically for every inspection.
Inspections in the process
The item defines whether inspection is required before purchase, before delivery or in manufacturing. Without a completed inspection, the document cannot be submitted. Rejected quantities go to a separate warehouse.
Non-conformances and actions
Deviations are recorded as non-conformances with cause and corrective action. Quality goals, reviews and meetings document quality management in the same system.
Reporting
Reports show inspection results per item, supplier or period. Recurring problems and weak suppliers become visible.
How it connects to other modules
- Buying: Inspection at goods receipt, rejection to the supplier.
- Manufacturing: Inspections during and after production.
- Stock: Blocked and rejected goods in separate warehouses.
- Selling: Inspection before delivery.
Frequently asked questions
How does inspection at goods receipt work? If incoming inspection is required for the item, it is created from the purchase receipt. Rejected quantities are posted to a rejected warehouse and can be returned to the supplier.
Can inspection be mandatory? Yes. If inspection is required on the item, the receipt, delivery or production entry can only be submitted after the inspection is completed.
Can inspection happen during manufacturing? Yes. Inspections can be required on the BOM, on job cards and on the production entry.
Can sampling be handled? Yes. The inspection includes a sample size, and retain samples can be kept for batch-tracked items.
Does ERPNext support ISO 9001? ERPNext provides the tools: inspections, non-conformances, actions, goals and reviews. Certification itself depends on your processes.
